This work is a tribute to the opening chapter of a marvelous new book called Heart of Wisdom: Life Writing as Empathetic Inquiry edited by Erika Hasebe-Ludt, Cynthia Chambers, Carl Leggo, and Anita Sinner. This artwork, like the book, represents a braiding of juxtapositions, a new cosmopolitan disposition that celebrates change, hope, ancestral genealogies, race, culture, and iconic and sacred references. This work witnesses the vibrancy of global connections and pays humble homage to remarkable artists Norval Morrisseau, Sandra Silberzweig, and Frida Kahlo.
